Pyjama Drama was created in 2005 by Sarah Owen, an experienced drama teacher who saw, time and time again, the immense benefits that children derive from drama, movement, music and play. It was an immediate success and now Pyjama Drama is expanding rapidly and being delivered in towns across the UK.
Here at Pyjama Drama we are passionate about providing young children with drama classes that are not only fun and exciting but which also develop key social skills such as confidence, concentration, co-operation and creative problem solving. Through our unique programme which combines the disciplines of drama, movement, music and play, we help children explore and make sense of, the world in which they live. Our classes are delivered in ‘public’ sessions, in nurseries, play groups, children’s centres and in schools. We also offer a wide range of fun-filled parties which have been created especially for the party environment. Please visit our children's parties page for more information.
The programme has been developed in line with the current requirements of the National Curriculum for England, Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales. Sessions support the key learning outcomes of curriculum guidelines and has been praised by Estyn (Inspectorate for Education and Training in Wales) and by nursery managers and head teachers throughout the UK.
The music and songs that we use in Pyjama Drama sessions has been specifically written to be integrated into the sessions and is unique to Pyjama Drama. They encourage the development of language, movement, and creative skills – children may be in role as a caterpillar during one action song or boogie like a dragon in another! You can listen to the Pyjama Drama welcome song on our home page or visit our shop. Pyjama Drama has been shown to have real demonstrable benefit for a child’s development and the effect is cumulative; many parents tell us that they see this after only 3 weeks. After this short amount of time a child may develop the confidence to join in a game on their own or take on a role in the drama, sit with concentration and listen to the leader or learn to take turns with their new friends for example. This is why we offer a no obligation, 3 week trial which allows children and their parents the opportunity to experience the true value of our classes and provides a much clearer picture of how they can help to boost their child's development. Find your nearest class and book your 3 week trial today - join in the fun!
