Top five family friendly summer events
Yay it’s nearly summer and in celebration of what will undoubtedly be the most glorious, baking summer in living memory (it will be, it will be), we’ve hand picked five of the best events for families from all over the UK.
1. Just So Festival, Leek. Last year was the first time for this festival for children held in beautiful surroundings in the Leek countryside. A never ending treasure trove of activities for children plus great food and drink. The organisers describe the event as “a magical experience where art, music and literature are embedded and entwined in a beautiful and wonderous landscape“ Which is very true and a much better description than ours.
2. Manchester International Festival. Many of the events taking place at Manchester International Festival are not designed for children but the ones that are look like they will be corkers. Music boxes and The Crash of the Elysum are two in particular that are bound to be incredible. Tickets will sell out fast so grab them while you can.
3. Camp Bestival, Dorset. This comes highly recommended by many people and looks incredible. Twice winners of the ‘Best Family Festival’ (in 2009 & 2010), it’s a fairly safe bet you’ll have an amazing time.
4. Edinburgh Fringe. One of the biggest events in the Scottish calendar, the Edinburgh Fringe packed full of an incredible array of amazing events. And it’s not just for the adults. At last count there were over 95 events for children taking place during the course of the festival, which runs from the 5-29 August.
5. Peppa Pig World, Hampshire. OK, it’s not a one off event but it is new and looks like such fun. Guaranteed to be a winning day out for anyone under five.
